One Year Older....

I would say and wiser too, but that's not true.

So the last birthday of the year hit our house. Phew, no more until March. Sorry no pictures it was my birthday and I don't have to take pictures. :)
To preface, I got to celebrate my birthday a week or so early with some of my good friends who also share December as a birthday. Carrie and Laura and our Hubs went to dinner and it was AMAZING!!!! Couldn't have asked for better company.
The actual birthday was a Monday.

I loved my phone going crazy with all the birthday wishes (love facebook for that!) My cute kids all wished me a happy birthday before they went off to school and my friend Erica brought me cafe rio and cupcakes for lunch.
The downish side was I had to make dinner for my dinner group, (but it was the best day the rest of the week was busy and would've been hard to switch.) I kept it basic with homemade pizza (I wanted my kids to eat it since I was leaving them with a sitter.) The best present was the fact that my 21 year old brother in law came and watched the kids. (oh man I miss having babysitters.) Lucky for him my other favorite present was my friend Kaylene took Warren. Scott had watched the kids a week or so ago and he and Warren did not do well. No worries, no one does well with Warren...unless of course you are Kaylene and Erica. Those are his two favorite people besides Mom and Dad. So when Davis got Scott to babysit I figured I would make it good all around and Kaylene was more than happy to take the "bug".
Davis and I were able to go out to dinner. I had a giftcard to Tepanyaki (that my mother in law gave me for my birthday last year.) It was awesome and I remembered why I loved that place. I am sure it'll be many years again before we go back, so I relished every minute. It was nice to be out with my Hubby and not have to worry about the kiddos.
All in all it was a great day. I am happy that 2011 is nearly over and soooo hoping 2012 is MUCH better.
I also get to look forward to doing lunch in a week with some more friends that share a December birthday....I swear ALL the cool kids have December birthdays. Davis' best buds from high school out of 3 of them 2 married December girls so I get to do lunch with Anna and Amy. (Megan is having a baby so we will take her to lunch in June for her birthday.) I then get to go do dinner the first Saturday in January with my other December buds Dana and Colleen. I have so many friends with birthdays in December and we all try to get together once a year, so I get to extend the birthday season and I LOVE IT!!!!! I can't wait to see all my girls in the next few weeks and celebrate good friends getting older. :)

Warren

BIG ONE!!!!!!!!!!!

This little man is ONE!!!!!! I can't believe we added him a year ago. Man this last year was fast. We went to dinner with Davis' parents and Scott. Then came home to have cake and icecream with our friends the Seelos' and Huntsman's. They are Warren's favorite people. He was so excited to get presents.

AND CAKE!!!!!!

He loved the cake but wanted Ady to help him. Silly boy!

Such a happy little guy. This little man loves to eat. Especially sweets. I might need to make him another chocolate cake in the near future.

A little about this cutie! He loves to snuggle....with Mom and Dad. Dad is his favorite. He definitely let's you know when he is tired and just wants to be put to bed. He's a pretty good sleeper, but loves to snuggle with Dad in the middle of the night. I love when I pick him up and he pats my back. He gets along really well with his siblings and puts up with so much. Matt especially gets in his face but he is super patient. He loves to play with Bennett and Ady is his favorite. He doesn't want to walk yet, but we know he can. A week or so ago he stood up and took three steps to Ady, but refuses to do it again. I don't mind....he's getting too big too fast. I love his crooked smile and his big blue eyes. He has old man hair but I'm not ready to cut it yet. He hates and I repeat HATES to change his clothes. He throws such a fit if you try. Warren loves to eat anything. He reminds me of Matt that way. He also loves to have popsicles with Davis, just like the other kids. :) We sure are happy Warren is in our family. We sure love him!!!!! Happy Birthday Sweetie!

Frogs and Turkeys

So my mother in law made this adorable frog costume for Tanner's first Halloween. I have since put it on all the boys (not sure why I didn't put it on Ady too. oh well) I have always wanted to blog with all the pics. Can you tell who is who? I think it's pretty easy....especially since ages are not the same.

Then my mother in law made these adorable costumes for Tanner and my niece Lexi and nephew Seth. Tanner was a turkey and they were pilgrims, I will need to find the pic of all of them, but it's cute!! So I have put all my kids in this costume. Okay all but one, can you tell which one I forgot and who is who? Again super easy....ages and all.

Enjoy my turkeys and frogs. One day I will do a cute picture to display on my wall but that is for another lifetime. :)

Bennett

So this little man turned three on November 14. Unfortunately for him his birthday was the same day as his Uncle Trevor's funeral. So because of that, he got a bit shafted. Thank goodness he is 3 and will never know. He was never forgotten though. Aunt Mindy was super nice to bring him a present at the luncheon....he was very happy. We never found a great time to celebrate, so we just sang happy birthday off and on for a few days and had dessert more than normal. It worked.

This kid LOVES dinosaurs, here he is making a dino sound. You really have to ask him to do it, it's pretty awesome. He did get a few perks. Davis was home for a whole week around his birthday so one day we took him to Walmart and he got to choose toys for his birthday. He loved being with Dad and Mom and Warren and of-course he wanted dinosaurs :) We also did lunch with him a few times. He was supposed to start preschool on his birthday but he had to wait and start on Wednesday. He gets to go to an Elementary school for speech and ride the big kid bus. He rode it home the first Wednesday and then was sick the following Monday, didn't have it Wednesday due to Thanksgiving and was super scared to ride it that first Monday. He cried for a few minutes but has done great since. His speech is improving a ton and he is such a fun kid. I remebered to take a picture of him today by the bus. He loves it and gets to sit by a little girl named Helen. She always gets so happy to see him.

We sure love having Bennett in our home. He brings so much joy and love to our house. He is super helpful and very mindful of things. He's much smarter than his little mouth can talk. I was surprised the other day when he asked for a drink. All of the kids have the same type of cup, only difference is their names are on it. He grabbed Ady's cup and before he gave it to me he said, "Oops". I was a little confused...and surprised he recognized a difference. He then went and got his cup and I asked him whose cup he had and he said, "Ady's" I then showed him all the cups and he could tell me whose cup was who's. I was pretty impressed. He's starting to get "friends". I asked him who his friends were and he said, "Jones and Mya." It took me a minute to figure out what he'd said, but when I did I laughed. I guess he's seen his cousins a lot lately. :) I told him the other day we were going somewhere and he got a bit stubborn. I then told him Jones would be there and he jumped to it. hahaha, I love cousin love!!! I never thought these two would be friends. He loves his siblings too. He gets so sad when Matt has to go to school. If he gets bored he'll go wake Warren up to "play". I'd say it's cute, but that would be a lie, it makes me pretty upset. :)

If you don't know Bennett, you should, he's a hoot!!! Love you little man!

Kids?!?!?!

*WARNING* LONG POST!!!!

I have a lot of posts I need to do, but this is one I want to do. :)
It's interesting how the closer Warren gets to 1, the more "Are you having more kids..." questions I get. So I thought I would write this out, mainly for me so I don't forget everything but also for those that might want to know. :)

To start, I can't remember how old I was but I decided at a young age I wanted 6 kids. Not sure why, I think at the time I wanted even numbers and 4 seemed too small and 6 was the next jump....8 seems too big. LOL I had it all planned out in my mind. I would marry, wait a year then start a family. We would first have a boy (I know what was I thinking a girl would be nice for babysitting, hahaha) then when that little boy turned one we would try for a girl (yes I am a bit of a control freak.) They would be close in age (under to just over 2 years apart.) We would then wait 2-3 years and have 2 more close in age, wait again for 2-3 years and finish with two more. The other stipulation was that there would be twins at some point. I always wanted twins, I had younger girl cousins (they were actually my cousins cousins but we were all raised as cousins) and I loved those two cute twins. I always thought girl twins would be super fun and cute. But then after I got married I secretly hoped for boy twins because Davis told me I couldn't name kids after the "twins" Scott and Trevor unless I used both their names, lame!!! I digress......So when Davis and I got married my plan first got altered....never to be the same again. SAD :( At our interviews with our stake presidents they all strongly encouraged us to "not put off a family." I smiled and nodded but inside thought, "We are waiting a year. Who are you to tell us not to put off a family?" Then at our sealing, let's just say I don't remember much of that day but I do remember the sealer (Davis' grandfather) kept mentioning not to put our family off. (smile and nod) I also remember thinking, "Of-course he's going to say that he has about a dozen kids." I didn't think much about it until we were on our honeymoon. It's funny how I remember this but we were in an Albertson's getting some food and just happened to walk down the aisle that had baby stuff, diapers, bottles, etc. All of a sudden Davis said something like, "Man, so glad we don't have to worry about that for a long time." Let's just say I started to cry, I'm sure my new husband thought "what did I just get married too?!?!" We left the store and I honestly had no idea why I was crying. After a little bit I just said, "I feel really strongly like we should start a family, but I don't want to. I want to wait a year." He patted my leg and we went about the week, not talking about it again. Off and on I would just get a strong feeling that we shouldn't put our family off....it kind of sucked. Just days away from needing to fill my prescription, we were getting gas (funny how I remember exactly where we were) Davis popped his head in the car and said, "I've been praying about it and I think we should start our family." groan, I spent the next 9 months throwing up. We were married the end of September and Tanner came in July 3 weeks early. I still to this day do not understand why my plan had to change, but I am happy we have Tanner.

So, to try to keep as much to the original plan as possible around Tanner's first birthday we started trying again. Let's just say this was the 2nd largest trial in my life. As we were trying I had my 3rd largest trial and then got pregnant after 18 months (what felt like FOREVER!) I found out on Valentine's Day, how fun!!!! My hopes were for a girl, but at this point I didn't care. I had started to realize that my "plan" was futile and that I didn't have much control over this phase of my life. To say I was accepting of this would be a big fat lie!!!! Just so you know.
Well to make a long story short, my girl came in September, 6 weeks early and definitely was the largest trial in my life. At this point I was pretty hopeless and realized we might not ever have any more kids. But I followed the spirit and we decided to take foster care classes, something I was scared to death to do. In June we got a huge blessing but also a huge trial. Angel came to live with us and we weren't sure if we would be able to keep her. The exact same day we picked her up I started my period...it just so happened that my doctor had "accidentally" double filled my clomid and I had another month sitting on the counter. Davis and I talked and decided that it wouldn't hurt to try it again (it hadn't worked up to this point) and that we might as well keep trying since we had no idea if this little girl would stay with us. Another long story short Matthew came 5 weeks early, putting him and "Angel" 9 months and one week apart. We adopted that little angel 6 months later and now call her Adylin. (Tanner was almost 5 when Matt was born.) Let's just say my life was super overwhelmed at the time. Oh I do have to go back a few steps. At some point before I got pregnant with Matt I had a nightmare I will never forget. I dreamed that there was another headstone under Addison's and it was a boy. This dream haunted me for a long time. I got pregnant with Matt and was convinced he was a girl. After we found out he was a boy I was a wreck. I had a strong feeling that he would have a rough start but this little boy would be okay. And for those that know Matt's story....amen! This dream still haunted me and with two kids 9 months apart I decided we were done. 3 kids was fine. This never sat well with me but I didn't know what else to do. After sometime I came to the conclusion (and after lots of healing from Addison's death) I realized we were grateful she was apart of our family and I KNEW she was meant to be apart of our family. I also KNEW that Adylin and Matt were to be apart of our family and that there was no other way to do what had to be done. So after lots of prayer and talk, Davis and I decided that if more children were to be apart of our family we would do it, even if it meant they might not be here for long. We decided that we wouldn't "prevent" until we knew our family was complete. Soon after that, we got pregnant and then found out it was a boy. Just because I came to a "conclusion", didn't mean this was an easy trial. I refused to name that little boy. I still remember being at my mother in laws house and she showed me the stocking she was working on for "boy" she asked if we had chosen a name (he was due in about a month)...nope! We had an idea but I wasn't committing yet. Around that time I had a feeling that we could name this little boy and that he was going to be ok. He came 3 weeks early and we named him Bennett. Oh how we love having Bennett in our home. Not long after Bennett turned one we were pregnant again, I was scared. I secretly hoped it was a girl. Davis and I had decided if we got a girl that we woud be done. We also decided that we wouldn't find out gender until birth. I knew in my heart it was a boy. I had two names, I know it's sad but I had a name that I really liked but I would only use it if the boy didn't live. So we had this baby 3 weeks early, rough delivery and when the doctor said, "It's a boy!" I turned to Davis and said, "You know this means one more." LOL But, I still had a hard time naming him. They took him away and after hours and hours I finally asked when I was going to see him. They eventually told me that he was really sick and they were having to send him to the NICU. I felt sucker punched. They brought him in for a moment and we decided to give him a blessing but we needed to choose a name. I didn't know if he would make it through the night (that's what they told us) so we finally decided to name him the non-dead name :) And that's how we got our Warren. Funny side note we were trying to decide on a middle name and Davis' brother Jeff was there (we always name after family, especially siblings) Davis finally said, "Sorry we can't name him after you Jeff, it would be Warren Jeff....." LOL not gonna happen.

So long post end..... The "plan" is for one more, but I am VERY torn right now about it. I want another one hoping for a girl, but since we aren't very good in the girl department and we've moved to a much smaller house, I logically thing we should be done, but my heart isn't convinced. So will we have another, not 100% sure. We aren't trying but we aren't using any GOOD prevention either. I've considered getting an IUD, but I have my fears about that too. Not going to post about that. So for now we are in limbo unsure of what to do and not feeling strongly one way or the other. So that's that for now.

Trevor Reinhold Strong

"Our Missionary"

Trevor returned to his Father in Heaven Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011 while faithfully serving as a missionary for the LDS church. Trevor was born in American Fork, UT, on April 5, 1990 to his parents, Gordon D. and Deborah K. Strong.

Trevor graduated from Kearns High School, where he was active in soccer and basketball. He was called to serve in the McAllen, TX, Spanish speaking mission October 2009, where he faithfully served for 2 years.

Trevor and his twin brother, Scott, were inseparable and will always be best friends. He was very well known for his height and his big smile. Trevor was a hard worker and loved to serve others. He loved children and was a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews. Always with a smile on his face, he was uplifting and had an amazing sense of humor. Trevor was a quiet leader and led by example. He was excited to serve as a missionary and loved the people he served so much he decided to extend beyond his release date. He was loved and will be missed by the countless people whose lives he touched.

Trevor is survived by his parents; grandparents, Eben and Barbara Blomquist, and Lorraine Strong; siblings, Davis (Holly) Strong, Kiersti (Bryan) Kinyon, Andrew (Heidi) Strong, Jeffrey Strong, McKell Strong, and Scott Strong; and 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald D. Strong; and niece, Addison Strong.

Trevor

I honestly do not know where to start. I guess this picture is a pretty good spot. I will try my best to share this with you all.

Tuesday October 8th was a busy day for me. My friend stopped by to help us do some unpacking and then my "cousin" Mindy showed up to help also. (for those wondering about the move I will maybe attempt that in another post for now if you want our new address email me addisonsmommyatgmaildotcom) We got stuff done and lots of talking (it had been a rough few weeks up to this point.) We were talking about how things had been rough but things were going to turn around. Little did I know. Later that evening I had a really good talk with my friend, as I was talking to her my other friend called in and Davis left for basketball. Not long after leaving Davis returned sat on the couch and told me we had to talk. There was a "look" and a "tone" so I got off the phone with my friend. I won't go into detail but it was a moment I will not forget. He informed me that his youngest brother (one of the twins) was just hit with a car while riding a bike on his mission.....the shock at hearing that he was dead was immense. I felt for a moment that this could not be happening. Wasn't my life all ready falling apart with the tragedy of Lexi and our home situation. I think I went completely numb at this point. There were no tears no words, nothing. I quickly made a phone call to our friend Sam, who promptly came to watch the sleeping babes.
Davis had left with his brother Andy to go to his parents. I sat with Sam in shock for a few minutes. We caught the news (ugh that was hard....even harder now weeks later, when we watch DVR and at the end of our shows we see the BREAKING NEWS!) The doorbell rang and Bishop and Brough were there. I left to go to Davis' parents....that drive was a blurr. I was still in shock. Before I left Davis called checking on where I was at, on my way he called checking on where I was at. I turned down his parents street and all of a sudden thought, "Where am I?!" It was weird. I finally got there and Mckell got up and gave me a big hug. I couldn't hold the tears back. It's sad because she was the first one to get me to cry when Addison died. I hugged Andy (big tears) and then Andy and Heidi left to go get Jeff in Provo. Davis's Dad filled us in with what he knew and we all just kind of talked about different things. Finally the time came to make the call to Scott. (I get teary just thinking about it.) Davis' parents were on the phone, the mission president was supposed to go over and have Scott call us. It was horrible hearing the screams on the other end of the phone. I had to walk out. At that point some people had showed up and I stopped them at the door and told them that everyone was busy on the phone with Scott. Kiersti then showed up and eventually the call with Scott was over. Soon Jeff and Andy showed and we were as complete as we could be. It was nice to have everyone there, it felt really good. Scott eventually called back and talked to all the siblings and he seemed to be past the shock. All he could think about was coming home. That night was super busy with phone calls and visitors. Davis's Dad was off and on the phone to the hospital answering questions and getting info. They had decided to donate Trevor's organs...what an amazing thing. We heard different things about the accident and now that time has passed, we know that Trevor was hit first and was thrown pretty far. Elder Walker was hit next and then Elder Harris. Elder Harris says that he woke next to Elder Walker and he was dead. He then saw people a ways off and assumed that is where Trevor was. Trevor lived until he got to the hospital or close to that, so they were able to keep things going for organ donations. We ended up staying until around 2 or so. We headed home to relieve my parents who had come to relieve Sam. I guess when they got ot our house Sam was there, Bishop, Brough and Erica were all there. Ahhh the love. Let's just say we didn't sleep much that night. I was a little concerned with how I was going to tell my kids the next day. I finally fell asleep and woke to the phone ringing about 6.
Wednesday, November 9th, it was Scott he couldn't sleep and he only had Davis' number memorized. So they talked for a little while and Davis gave him his siblings numbers. The little ones woke up next, so I had them watch tv and went and got Tanner up. I told him to come to our room. We told him and he seemed okay. We then brought the other kids up and told them and they too seemed okay. I think they really didn't fully understand. We told them they weren't going to school and that we were heading to Grandma and Grandpa's. They had a blast playing with the cousins. This was also my brothers birthday (he passed away 8 years ago) it was weird to think that my brother was in heaven and now Trevor. I have to say I was super calm and comforted through all of this. I think because I had dealt with so many other deaths, this one was just different for me. That day was just weird, we had no answers, our phones and facebooks were being blown away with messages, and we were all in shock and uncertain of how to move ahead. My sister in law Heidi was thinking better than us all (her dad is a mortician so I think she has a different mind set.) She was setting up a banner for Scott since he was coming home that night and sent the boys to the store to buy some of Scott's favorite things. She wanted his homecoming to be as normal and nice as possible. I headed home with the kids at one point to do naps, get dinner (we had dinner coming in from my dinner group) and I also had parent teacher conferences to worry about. My parents were there so I sent my Dad and Tanner to buy balloons for the airport and I ran to the school to see if I could sneak in and do my pt's early. I was able to catch Tanner's teacher and Matt's teacher. Ady's was super far behind so I rescheduled with her. I hurried home for dinner and off to the airport. It was sad to see another family there welcoming their son home from a mission. They were all smiles and hugs we were tears and hugs. It was so nice to have Scott home but so difficult to see him under these circumstances. We headed to Davis' parents house and waited for Scott to get released and come home. It was nice to sit and chat while we waited. When he got back it was full of laughter and tears, joy and sorrow. It was wonderful to have the family all back together. We planned to meet at the mortuary the next day.
Thursday 10 am we met Davis' family at the mortuary (all but Scott). This was especially hard for me because this is the same mortuary we had to go to for Addison. I had a hard time pushing the memories from my mind. I think because I was trying so hard to keep things under control I was super numb. The meeting was a bit of a blur, I wasn't sure what to say or do. It was hard not to think of my brother a bit and I kept wondering if it would be an open or closed casket. I was so hoping to see Trevor. When my brother died (he was also hit by a car) it was closed but I insisted on being able to see him. So they opened it before the funeral for me and others that wanted to see him. Well, soon my questions were answered, as we walked into the room with all the caskets, Heidi's dad told us that he had talked to the mortician in Texas (Trevor had to be embalmed before he could be transported back) and he said it would most likely be closed casket. Davis' family fell apart, it was so sad to see, I was still trying to hold it all in. We finished making all the arrangements we could and had decided on a viewing Tuesday, funeral Wednesday. I was so happy it wasn't Monday, since that was Bennett's birthday. We went to lunch, Scott met us there. After lunch we headed down to Alpine to visit with Davis' Grandma and figure out the plot info since that is where they were burying him, near Grandpa. Davis and I couldn't stay long since our kids were at school and we needed to get back before they got home. We were so blessed to have so many friends to help at this time. My parents could help a little but with them being further away and having other obligations, it was nice to have others to help out. The rest of our evening was pretty crazy with homework and my other mom Leslie had come over to help me make an invite for a bridal shower we were doing. It had to get done and despite the stress and tragedy it was nice to do it. She stayed with the kids so Davis and I could go to Ady's parent teacher conference and that was needed. (no comment) Davis later went to play basketball with his brothers. It was a neat experience. Davis, Andy, Jeff and Scott started the game out just the 4 of them (they left a spot open for Trevor) they then let others play. It was neat because (I might get the numbers wrong) but they scored 32 points in each half, Trevor's number when he played ball for school. I heard it was a neat tribute, I was sad I missed it.
Friday:
We sent the kids to school, Warren to Angie's and Amy took Matt and got him off to school for us. We went to Davis' parents and had to write up the obituary and collect pictures for the video. Then I headed to Inkley's with Kiersti and the girls for pictures. We found out late Thursday that the church needed us to move the viewing to Sunday and the funeral to Monday (bummer, we were rushed and it was Bennett's birthday...oh well.) We were very fortunate that Inkley's had Trevor's mission pictures and the photographer was able to clean them up really nice (the original photographer made them a bit blurry and since we wanted a huge picture to display at the viewing/funeral, blurry would not do.) The guy we met with was amazing, he was so kind and thoughtful and gave us a great deal on all the pictures we got. We had also found out on Thursday that Trevor's body would arrive in SL friday evening around 6. On Tuesday I told everyone that Davis and I were planning a temple session friday and anyone that wanted to come could. Two of Davis siblings had to rush to get recommends renewed since they had just expired a few days earlier. Fortunately it worked out and all of Davis' siblings (minus Mckell, she's not endowed yet.) and his parents were able to meet us at the temple friday night. We got into a super small session, there were probably only about 15 other people besides us. This was a bit sad for us since the last time we were all together in the temple, was when the twins went through before their missions. Let's just say it was an amazing spiritual experience that I will never forget. After, we met up with McKell for dinner. It was nice to include her in this part since she isn't able to go to the temple yet.
Saturday we used as a wind down family day. We just hung out and got things done at home, since there was still plenty of unpacking to do. We didn't know but everyone else headed to Davis' parents since Trevor's stuff had arrived and his mission president's wife had shown up. Davis went over later to help with some stuff when he found out, but he missed a lot of it.
Sunday we had McKell and Alex, Scott and Davis' parents come to our ward for the primary program. It was neat and nice to have them there with us. Later we met at the mortuary with Davis family. It was a special time for us. We were able to see Trevor (since it was closed casket) and see the video they had prepared. All I can say is the music and pictures were amazing. I know it was a lot of work and I am grateful my sister in law took the time and effort to get it all done...you are awesome Kierst!!! This opportunity to see him was wonderful to me. It brings a sense of closure and reality. (But I do have to say most of the time it still doesn't seem real, since he was gone for two years. It's weird, in my mind he is and will always be in Texas.) It was hard to see his body but nice knowing his spirit was no longer there. I am so glad I got the opportunity.
We then went back to Davis' parents for food and prep work for the viewing. Let's just say the viewing was full of tears, lots of laughter at least on the siblings side and tired feet. That place was packed and I am so glad I was able to wander and not be stuck talking to people. :) At some point I went and pulled a bunch of our friends and brought them to Davis since they had all ready waited 2 hours....ouch! The viewing was scheduled from 6-8 people started showing up around 5:40 and we didn't see the last people until 10:30 it was amazing. I had a really fun experience that I will share. I always think it's so interesting how peopleend up knowing people you know. Close to the end I was standing in the hall next to this really cute guy (no he wasn't my hubby but he was cute.) Some how we started talking and he happened to be there with his girlfriend who was a friend of Trevor's from high school. I knew her because her name is Adylin (spelled the same as our Ady) she taught my kids swim lessons at Kearns and she was a good friend from high schools little sister (though I didn't know this until I saw her sister at one of the swim practices.) Anyway, we were just chatting about missions and such, well, he ends up being the cousin of one of Davis' mission companions, whom I adore. He and his wife live in AZ so we never get to see them, but we love them and if they lived closer they would seriously be one of our closest friends. I had to pull Davis since it was such a fun coincidence. Davis had fun talking to him for a few minutes.
Also while I was in the hall a group of people came out together. One of them stopped me and asked how I was related. I told him and he was so sweet. He was from Texas and adored Trevor. He was with a bunch of returned missionaries from Trevor's mission. I do have to say this was one of the most tender moments for me. To hug and meet people that had seen Trevor more recently than I had was so sweet and emotional. The other touching people for me were meeting those parents of missionaries that were still out in Trevor's mission and meeting his past mission president and his current president's wife. Very emotional meetings for me.
Now for Monday. The morning came and we had decided to send Warren and Bennett to Erica's, Tanner had gone with my parents and Matthew had decided not to go to the funeral, so he also went to Erica's and then to school. We got ready (including Ady) and headed to the church for a everything. We started out with the immediate family and had a prayer. Then another viewing started and was packed, I am still overwhelmed with the people that showed up. Elder Russell M Nelson was there and he came in to meet the family before the family prayer. It was pretty awesome. Elder Zwick was there too. (side note, I first met Elder Zwick in August when he sealed my cousin. He is my Aunt's husband's cousin. After the wedding we went to pick up our kids and Davis was telling the people that babysat our kids what an amazing sealing it was and that if he didn't know better he would've thought the sealer was an apostle. I turned to him and said, he is. I then explained to him who he was.) Anyway, so it was nice to see him again and talked to him for a few minutes and to also see Elder Nelson. After they left we had the family prayer and went out for the funeral. Can I just say this funeral was by far the best funeral I have ever been to (and I've been to plenty.) The spirit was so strong and the messages shared were so wonderful. I am so impressed and proud of my in-laws. All of the siblings spoke and did a great job. I loved how each of them had a unique relationship with Trevor and each of their own personalities came out in each talk. It was cool. Davis' group (Kords) and his Dad's group sang. Davis' dad spoke and he read the last entry in Trevor's journal two days before he died he put. I love being a missionary. He also shared a bit of a letter that a sister had written about the day Trevor died. It happened to be a huge mission meeting where the missionaries spent all day together with the mission president. She saw Trevor and commented that he was going home soon. (He was originally scheduled to come home Dec. 3 but had extended his mission to just before Thanksgiving.) He told her "A few weeks a few months a few years....I am going to be a missionary forever." He died that day and extended his mission forever! After Gordon spoke Elder Nelson spoke. He shared some great words and insight. It was wonderful. Then about 50 returned missionaries from the McAllen Texas mission sang Called to Serve in both english and spanish it was amazing. I will never be able to hear that song the same again. I will never forget, there were two polynesians standing next to the casket and after the song as everyone was walking back each one took a moment, put their hands on the casket and then wiped a tear away. I cry just thinking about it. My brother in law gave an amazing closing prayer and then the brothers as pallbearers took the casket out. As we walked out, Elder Nelson, Elder Zwick and the other representative stood to greet us and gave us each a huge hug. When I got to Zwick he gave me an extra squeeze and said, "I am so happy we are family!" It was cute.
We then headed down to Alpine where he is buried close to Grandpa Strong.

So that's the story for now. There's more I can add, but I am content. Here are a few pictures of Trevor. Man I am going to miss this guy. I met Trevor when he was about 10. I still remember taking the twins and Mckell bowling our first real hangout/meet. They all sat in the back, McKell and Trevor super shy....Scott, not so much. As we bowled Scott was always getting my ball for me, talking to me and just being Scott. The other two were super shy and quiet. I will never forget those cute faces. It didn't take long for all of them to warm up and we had those 3 all of the time. They would have sleepovers and swim at our apartment. We saw them even more when we had Tanner and lived in Tuscany. They used to babysit Tanner all the time, especially in the summer. As they got older Trevor and Scott were always coming over to hang out and play games. They would play basketball and football with Davis....we saw these boys ALL THE TIME!!! It was super weird when they left on their missions. There truly was a void in our lives. I gradually got used to it and was super busy with all my kids. I am sad I didn't write them more. But I really miss having Trevor home. I looked forward to the few weeks of him being home before Scott. I looked forward to hearing about his mission and seeing the growth in his life. I will miss him more than words can express. Mindy gave us all a tile that reads "What a beautiful difference one single life made." That is so true. My life has forever been blessed and changed because I knew Trevor.

By Handsome Boy......Can't wait to see you again and spend forever with you.

My Niece

Words are hard to find at this moment so I just put some pictures and her obituary up. For those that know and those that don't. My niece went missing on September 10, 2011. I can't go into many details but her body was found on Oct. 18. 2011.

This sweet and vivacious girl was my favorite person by far. She was born my Junior year of high school and was my everything. I loved this little girl with all of my heart. Of course my heart expanded as I had my own children but Lex will always hold a very special place in my heart. The last few years, as she moved to Ogden and became a teenager our relationship wasn't as deep as before, but everytime I saw her she made me smile and no matter what was going on in her life I tried to express how important she was and that through her choices she could be or do anything she wanted to do. I will cherish the moments I had with her and I will miss her so deeply. It makes me happy knowing that she is with memory of Alexis and her strong personality.....I will fondly remember the day Addison died, Lexi was 9 years old and her mother was very adament that her child not see a "dead baby." Lexi would have nothing of that, she marched into the room and demanded she get to love on her cousin. I love this picture because it shows the sadness in her eyes but the proudest cousin ever!!!!

It's weird now that she will be buried in the same spot she is kneeling, next to her cousin.

I will miss you sweet Lexi and look forward to the day I get to see you again!!!

Frogs

Okay so these are my frogs. Can you tell who is who?!?! They definitely aren't the same age as each other. I can totally tell. Can you?

This one is a bit easy since we didn't have a digital camera and my scanner isn't working. :) LOL

Halloween Pictures 2011

I have a friend that takes pictures of her kids "early" so she can display them through October. (so smart!) I have been saying I will do this but I never have costumes ready or bought or whatever. This year I have all but Tanner's (oh well) So I am getting there. The kids loved putting them on and modeling.

Matthew the Ninja (we bought this costume the day after Halloween last year...he bugged me for a month to wear it. Forgot and then found it downstairs a few months later and bugged again. This went on all year so it was so nice to finally let him wear it.)

Warren the Frog (all of my boys are frogs their first year. My MIL made this...I will look for pictures of all of them, Tanner's might need to be scanned.)

Bennett the Monkey (he wants to be a dinosaur, but I have this so he is outta luck.)

Adylin as Dorothy

This was take one and she said, "MOM, I don't have my dog." sigh

Off Track Fun

We have been off-track for a little over a week and we've had lots of fun. I don't have pictures of everything but I will try to write it down.

Monday-Aquarium, we went to the aquarium and I forgot my camera....oops! Kids had fun and we got season passes because I got them cheap with a groupon. (score) We are planning on going again tomorrow so hopefully some pictures will get taken.

Tuesday we were at the dentist most of the day....no fun~

Wednesday we went to the park with our friends. Not long into the park Bennett came running to me saying ow ow ow. I figured he was just being Benno and gave him a big hug and rubbed his back and head...all of a sudden I looked down and his hair was covered in blood. UM OWIE! I ran him to my neighbors and after doing a little clean up we realized he had a huge goose egg and a puncture wound on his head....no idea how it happened so we headed home and gave him a bath and chilled. FUN!?!?

Thursday- Ogden Dino Park....our passes expire in January so we want to go a few more times, so happy our cousins have a pass too!!! We had lunch, fed the ducks, played at the park, dug for fossils and then walked around. Awesome weather, awesome company, so great.

I love the face Bennett is pulling.

After we played at Mindy's. Bennett crashed before we hit the freeway to go home. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

I can't remember if we did anything else, it's all been a blurr.

This week we had doctors appointments and speech therapy (Bennett) and then Tuesday I sent Tanner and Ady to the Seelos' so I could make dinner.

Quick side note....I started a dinner group about a month ago. Basically I make dinner on Monday for my family and 3 other families...then each family brings dinner to us tues-thurs...can I just say how much I LOVE IT!!!! It has been great to not have to worry about dinner and the day I have to cook isn't too bad...generally. This Tuesday was an exception I switched days with Kaylene Seelos for personal reasons on her part and so she did my Monday and I got Tuesday but she was nice enough to watch my kids, Bennett and Warren had fallen asleep and Matt wanted to stay home and have quiet time (anybody that knows Matt....isn't surprised) so Tanner and Ady headed to Kaylene's and I started dinner. I had forgotten to text her to tell her the kids were coming so I did, she texted back they were there...a few mintues later she called me and very calmly said, "For starters Tanner is okay, but he just got hit by a car."

WHAT!?!?!?!

She told me to come over...so I hurry and called Davis to come home and put the sleepy kids back in the car (man Warren's naps have been soooo screwed up with the kids off track) I got there and he was sitting on her couch, pale and disoriented. So Kaylene said that he came over and didn't say anything to her, Ady came in hysterical and she couldn't get her to calm down enough to hear what had happened. The crossing lady came over and told her that they were getting ready to cross, they had pushed the buttons and waited for the go ahead. She was on the opposite side of the street crossing kids, Tanner started to cross and this lady left hand turned into him. She said it knocked him off his scooter and out of his shoes. The lady got out, gave him his shoe asked him if he was okay, he said yes, so she got back in her car and drove off. He then continued to Kaylene's house with Ady following (we aren't sure why exactly but Ady hesitated crossing....which is a first I am certain....so she saw the whole thing and was a mess.) Soon after I got there we called the police. He seemed fine, just disoriented. He couldn't remember what happened but said his hand hurt. In the end no one got the license but a fwe people said she picks her kids up from our elementary school and they see her all the time so they will get the license. It was interesting, the little caesar guy that dances around with the sign was there, he insisted to the police that it was a blue car with a make and model. Everyone else looked at him like he was crazy and said, no it was a red car. Davis got there to take him to the doctors and the police came asking if we knew of a little boy with down syndrome that they found wandering along the same street Tanner got hit. We made some phone calls and found out someone knew the child and we were able to get him to his mom. I then went home to make dinner....let's just say it was much later than expected but everyone was awesome about it. Tanner got a clear bill from the docs but he's sore and bruised today. All in all we were super blessed that he was fine. Today we are chillin' inside since it's cold and rainy......snow is predicted in the mountains tomorrow...ahhh!!!!

Berry Picking

Last Friday I went berry picking with my friend Anna and her daughter. We drove down to Mapleton to the McBride Patch. This is the best place to go...the owners are super nice and the berries are wonderful. They have both blackberries and raspberries. Bennett had a great time picking the blackberries (they are thornless) with my Dad. I didn't get a picture of my Dad, sorry.

At first Bennett ate everything that ended up in his basket....gotta love the evidence on his face.

Oh boy, look at those hands!!!!!

This must be a "before the mess" picture. I just realized I have no pictures of Warren but he was there sitting nicely in the stroller.

Okay, this was my newest craft. I whipped this up the night before because we went to a friends house that had one and there were tears when we got home. Bennett kept asking me where his dino tail was. LOL So we went to the store the next day and $1.50 later we had a dino tail that he is in LOVE with. It is covered in dirt and berry juice, but Bennett doesn't mind. He still wears it everyday. The other day we caught him leaning on the chair and "shakin" his tail for about 15 minutes....Davis and I laughed and laughed.

Oh after the berry patch we hit up cafe rio...perfect lunch!!!!

On a side note, Ady had dental surgery yesterday. We finally took her to the dentist (I know bad parents, she is 6, but we didn't have insurance for a while and trying to find some one to take her medicaid is a nightmare.) ANYWAY, we took her to the dentist to find out she had 10 cavities and an absessed tooth. :( They sent us to a pediatric dentist that told us we needed to schedule surgery since it would take at least an hour to do her stuff and they wanted her to not have a bad dental experience. yikes! So yesterday she had it done and she is doing great. She is so happy to have silver teeth...oh man. The dentist said that most likely the rest of her baby teeth will have problems, they show "signs" but the new permanent teeth that have come in look great. He said most likely the damage to her baby teeth was due to the "problems" in utero. So sad, but we are happy to have that behind us for now.

Last but not least, I need to write this before I forget. Matthew is my "lazy child". Davis and I have had many talks about this kid. For instance, when we do our quick clean up in the evening everyone hurries and cleans up 10 things (even benno.) Matt on the other hand you have to ask him over and over to help and when he finally gets off the floor he has to pee....we say that his bladder is affected by work....seriously anytime you ask this kid to do anything he has to pee. grrrr! FINALLY you get him to pick something up and the whining begins. Now he's whining less and finds something that has to go up to the toyroom and then he doesn't appear again until he thinks all the work is done. Little does he know but he gets to clean up everything when this happens. He is starting to catch on and do better. Emptying the dishwasher has been a nightmare. It takes hours, lots of tears and lots of whining. We used to take turns having the kids empty it but since Matt whined we told him, everytime you whine, or if it takes longer than 30 minutes you get to do it the next time. Ady and Tanner LOVED this arrangement. It took about 2 weeks for him to figure it out. :) I also had an issue because Ady and Tanner are in school all day, if I needed the dishwasher done and it was their turn....loved the weeks Matt had it. So I made a deal with Matt (when he was good at it) that if he emptied the dishwasher every day for a week he could get a happy meal on Friday before school (he really wanted the toy they were offering.) He did a great job and even got Bennett to help him, it was awesome. Then this week I needed it emptied again so I tried the same approach, he told me, "No I all ready did that." So we negotiated and I ended up telling him he could take a dollar to the dollar store, which he was thrilled with and I was happy since it's a lot cheaper than mcdonalds. LOL I love how different my kids are Ady is super helpful and will do most anything you ask with a smile. Tanner is pretty good at doing what you ask, but will be sour on occasion and is getting into the lying stage by saying he did it when he didn't. That's getting much better since we started doubling the work when he lied, since he's not a good liar and eventually would cave. That and we told him that we don't trust him so unless we see him do it he gets to redo it :) Bummer for lying.
