CRUISE 2008

We LOVED it!!! Need I say more? We drove down to LA late sunday night, boarding on Monday. The drive down was great, I slept most of the way, and the Adam's were the best people we could travel with. Monday night was the hardest on the ship, between the rocking and the lack of sleep......well, no one puked, but we were a bit loopy. Tuesday we went to San Diego and took a Harbor Tour, then toured the USS MIDWAY. It was wonderful.

I realized my camera was out of batteries on Monday, so we took Davis camera, but it died about 20 minutes into San Diego. We bought new batteries and had a camera for another day, but the Adam's were great at taking pictures for us. If you want to see them check out their blog http://www.amy-adamsfamily.blogspot.com/

Davis does have a few pictures, so when I get them, I'll post them. Day 3 (wednesday) found us just out of Catalina Island. I was so excited to go snorkeling and wear my new bathing suit. We were soon disappointed to find out that we couldn't go to Catalina because the water was too rough and they couldn't get the boats out to get us to land. OH WELL, we decided to stay on board and play cards. To rewind back to Monday, while we were finding our way around the ship, we stopped at a spot that had people playing cards. I stopped to watch a game I didn't recognize and spent about 2 hours hanging out with the neatest people ever. They taught me to play Canasta and we chit chatted. It was a blast. We actually ran into these people a ton on the cruise and enjoyed every minute of it. I was never able to get a picture before we got off the boat. But, luck had it, they were moved all the way to the front of the customs lines and we saw them one last time.

Here's Grandma Irene and Grandpa Larry. I'm so sad not to have a picture of Marty and Teddy.

Our last day was Ensenada where we had a jeep tour to a winery. There were a bunch of older people on our jeep ride and in the end the other 4 jeeps looked like this.....

Davis drove to the winery....

And we went through every mud puddle we could find...it was so much fun!!!!! Here's our jeep...

Russ drove back and got even more mud on it. I have to say I laughed more on that ride than I have in a LONG time.

Here's a picture of the vines at the winery.

Our tour guide talking about his wine....it was such a neat experience learning about wine. I laughed because out of 12 people that went on this excursion, 6 were from Idaho (and didn't drink...wonder why) us 4 didn't drink, and two others, only one could drink because the other had to drive. It was funny having all of us there and when they asked who was going to taste, at first no one raised their hands...it was hilarious.

Here's a picture of Russ and Amy on the jeep ride.
Davis made me take a picture of this sign....he thought it was hilarious that it said "MITTENS" (on #7) as dangerous items.
This is the only pictures we got of all four of us.
I HAD to take a picture of McDonalds in Mexico, I'm not sure why I thought it was funny, but I did!!!!
I can say many wonderful things about our cruise, but the day that Davis and I walked in to find our bed made (for the 100th time, they made it every time we left the room, it was cool!) we saw this and started to laugh hysterically!!! Those are my glases on the swan.

The next day was a dog and the last day was a monkey, but I didn't take a picture.
I know this is long, but I have a few highlights I promised to write about. A big joke for those that don't know Russ....he'll eat anything (but mushrooms...) Well, Amy's joked a few times about how fast he eats too, the joke is she'll put the food in front of him and by the time she goes back to get her own food and sit down, he's done. SO, one day at lunch, Russ put his hamburger down and smiled really big (there was only about 2 bites left of it) and all of a sudden Davis and I started laughing. Amy came and sat down and asked what was so funny. Davis said, "Look at Russ' hamburger.....there's only 2 bites left and he just realized he forgot to put a burger on it." We laughed about it the whole trip!!! The other funny thing we'll remember from our trip is the 3 entree night! One night at dinner Amy couldn't decide what she wanted to eat. The waitress was so kind, she brought out 3 entrees for her. It was so funny watching her eat from all three plates. I guess I shouldn't laugh too hard, because I had at least 2 desserts each night...and I'm not the one eating for two!!!!
The second day on the cruise, Davis and Russ came out wearing matching red polos...I too was wearing a red shirt, we had a good laugh and Amy was the odd one out wearing black.....I'm sure she was happy not to be matching us.
Well, there's another funny thing I can't remember, but if I do, I'll come back and post it.

The jeep ride was by far the most fun I have had in a long time. Thank you both for being such great friends and doing this with us.
