Thank You Katie!!!!
So anyone that knows me well, knows that I am not creative. I am not stylish or a good decorator....it's okay I know it. But, I do know how to cheat on occasion. I am okay at copying something....but coming up with it, no way. So when Ady came home from school on Monday with an invite to a birthday party, I groaned. I hate spending $5-10 on a toy that you know is going to be put away, broken or thrown in the heap of other stuff. So after a few days of stress and just before I broke down and ran to Walmart, I remembered my friend's blog....she'd just made some cute embellished flip flops for her daughter, so I looked it up and to my joy she had some cute jewelry she'd just made her daughter for Easter....score!!!! So I called her up and begged her for her secrets. Since she's not only creative, but super kind she told me her secret...thanks Katie, you are amazing and wonderful!!! So off I went. I dragged Matt, Bennett and Warren to 3 different stores, collecting my goods. Katie then checked up on me to see if I needed help (see what a great friend she is....) she then came over and gave me some much needed advice. Her cute daughter even made the final decision on what type of fabric flower (I think creativity runs in the genes, so maybe Ady has a chance.) I am super proud of my finished product.....oh and since I am super crazy and realized I not only had no wrapping paper at 10 pm tonight and no cute gift bags, I scrounged through my "crap" I mean craft closet and made this fun bag to put it in.
The super cute necklace....can I say I love the "Bead Farm" in Gardner Village....I so wish I had more time to spend there without 3 crazy boys under foot....big thanks to Matt for entertaining Benno outside since no strollers were allowed. This darling necklace cost me about $1.50 the necklace was all ready done, I got to choose the flower and they put it all together for me...oh happy day!!
Since I couldn't just give this little girl a necklace, I grabbed more flowers and then went to the fabric store and got some cute fabric. I was super nervous because I am not so talented in the matching/cuteness area. But I think I did pretty good. Sorry they are a bit blurry but they are hairpins.
Last but not least the cute cute flip flops. I am so in love and want to make me a pair. I have tons of fabric left, since I didn't know how much to get.
So all in all this present (minus the bag since it was all leftover from other projects) was $7 ($10 if you count ALL the fabric but I only used a small portion of what I bought.) How cool is that? I think I am going to have a happy 6 year old tomorrow....and a sad one if I don't get Ady's done. I bought extra for Ady so she can match.....what 6-year old doesn't love matching with a friend?!?!!

Super super cute!
I love it! I feel the same as you about decorating and gift shopping. I might have to borrow your borrowed idea! The next step would be to make a bunch and then you'd always have one ready.
