Bennett Oh Bennett

Bennett officially turns two next Sunday. But due to Davis' calling we can't do a birthday party next week so we opted for this Sunday. Before I get into it. I have to say that Bennett is getting into the terrible 2's. Not sure if he just hasn't been feeling well lately or what, but he's been a stinker. For starters, he refuses to sleep. If I put him in his crib for a nap he will scream for well over an hour....I just can't do it! His favorite person is Dad and since Dad has been super busy lately he takes it all out on "mom". Thanks sweetie!!!! I know a bunch of frustration comes from not being able to talk or communicate well. Not only will he not take naps, he will not sleep unless Davis is holding him...total drag. It's trully been a rough 2 weeks with this little fella. On top of that, he won't eat, so he's hungry all the time...okay, he won't eat food. Give him candy and popsicles and he's content, but not really since he's still hungry but doesn't really understand. So this is a fun picture from the other night. Davis had gone to meetings and I was stuck with Benno. I gave him his routine popsicle and he laid by the office door like this. I kept asking if he wanted to go to bed and he would shake his head no. Davis finally got home and had to do a few things on the computer, so he laid like this until Daddy was done. Not sure how things turned out because the second Dad walked in the door, I was in bed. :) I did sit on the stairs and giggle for a few minutes while I watched Bennett. He literally could not keep his eyes open....but he just slurped away at this popsicle.

Next, I'm a stinker picture. The other day I was in the office printing some stuff off. I have been making posters for a ward activity. I came back into the kitchen to find this...........Bennett had gotten into my rubbermaid and destroyed my glitter!!!! My house is still covered in glitter. I threw all said glitter I could find away....I hate glitter. I know this picture doesn't do justice, but it was a DISASTER!!!!

On to being 2!!! I started planning Bennett's "simple" birthday party about 3 months ago. I had a small idea in my head and figured I'd get most of it done ahead of time as to not have to stress about...being pregnant and all. I did keep putting off taking his picture, which meant there were other things that had to be put off. So this was a fun and cute picture I got of him on Saturday.
A few things I made in advance....I had about 6 of these with different candies in them.
This went together easy...I just had to print the photos at Walmart. Most of them I printed super cheap the week before. The only ones I "one houred" were the ones I took on Saturday.
I made this in advance too. Not in LOVE with it, but it was fine. I think I would do it different next time.
This picture is funny to me. Bennett came in the kitchen and saw the table all ready and I was "hoping" for a happy, excited smile...instead I got the 2 year old "glare". I know he's thinking, "I will so get in trouble for eating this stuff, but I will wait until she puts that camera away and swipe a few." And that's exactly what happened. The second I turned to put the camera down he grabbed some candy and ran to the living room to eat it.
These were a total pain and I wish I would've made them more in advance, but I was waiting to put a picture of him on it. They turned out cute, but in my hurry to put them together I used a glue stick and was stressed, so they started to fall apart....oh well. This just shows all 4 sides. They weren't as big as I would've liked but the kids had fun filling them with candy.

I made these pom balls in advance. First time making them and they were fun and easy, I just wish I would've realized that tissue paper came in different sizes. I grabbed the colors I wanted at Hobby Lobby, but the sheet sizes were wrong for the pattern I had, so I had to end up cutting the paper in half...thus giving me small balls. I would've preferred bigger balls, but wasn't willing to go searching for the right paper in the right colors.

I ended up making cupcakes the night before, but was too tired to make the frosting, so I was scrambling to make it on Sunday.....which was a crummy day. I was in tears all day and wished I had done more before hand. Thankfully the party went off without a hitch....Bennett did cry when we sang Happy Birthday and wouldn't blow his candles out...and I was so wanting to be done that I didn't get a decent picture of him opening presents.....he didn't want to open them anyway. But, he was thrilled to get a car and balls...everything else was blah to him. LOL All I can say is I am happy to have this over. Now I need to finish those silly posters for chuch (bennett not only glitterfied everything but poured water over everything so I pretty much have to start over....punk!) After that I can relax....hahaha, did I forget what "season" we are entering.
