New ward....new people....new bishopric

Last night we had a huge stake meeting where the re-aligned all our ward boundaries in the stake. We knew about it for a week and nearly every night Davis and I looked at the boundaries and speculated where the changes would be and where our new house would fit into all of this. We started big in our guesses and ended up right in the end. :) LOL We are sad to say that we lost 10 of the most AMAZING people from our ward. I nearly cried, but then decided I just need to make more of an effort to stay in touch...it's not like they moved out away or anything.
The next thing they did....about 3 years ago they split or stake but we kept the same ward names, so we were the Prairie 5th ward in the Park Stake. With the re-organization they changed us to the Park 2nd ward...yay! OH, we not only lost memebers of our ward, but we then picked up a big chunk of another ward, so we'll have new people coming to church with us next Sunday. I'm excited about the possiblity of meeting some new friends. Last but not least, our bishop was up for release this summer and with the re-aligning, he lost one of his counselors, and in our "pick up" of people we aquired a new made bishop in the other ward. So, they decided to release our bishop and keep this newly made bishop as our new bishop (very exciting because he recently had served on the High Council with Davis, so Davis was excited to have him in our ward.) Well, Saturday night the stake exec secretary called asking to meet with my and Davis, so at 3pm Sunday (the re-align meeting was at 5) Davis was called to be the 1st councilor in the bishopric. We are very excited for his new calling and even more excited that the 2nd councilor is our good friend Sam Sweet. He's going to be VERY busy the next few months since with all the losses we need a new Sunday School Pres.; Young men pres; Relief Society pres (Sam's wife is excited for this release since she's having a baby in 3 weeks.) and a ton of little callings. I'm not looking forward to being alone every sacrament meeting, but I pray that Heavenly Father will bless my kids to become perfect angels during church...LOL!!!!

In a different note...or house is nearly done. We are hoping for the first part of march, but we aren't pushing anything. I did ask the person that extended the calling if this call was contingent upon our move and he said it was (the house we live in is in the other ward) and I jokingly said, "hmmmm, maybe I don't want to move." LOL he luckily laughed and said, "You're kidding right." hahaha

Wow, lots of changes! My dad got called to be bishop of a brand new ward last year - could be worse, Davis could be starting completely from scratch!

Good luck!

So excited that you guys are still in the ward! Davis will do great in the bishopric. We will have to get together with the people who have been taken out of our ward for a party. Maybe a housewarming party?! :)

I'm excited for you guys too! This will be an awesome bishopbric! I told Carrie that Jarom or I (or both) are usually out in the hall during sacrament meeting anyway, so if either of you need to send any of your kids out with us, the more the merrier!
You and Carrie are both such amazing women, that I know you'll be able to get through this. But, we'll be praying for you anyway!

Hello
I was reading Cathy's food blog and started doing a little blog surfing and came across your name. It is so fun for me to hear about my old ward and the people in it. I hope you guys are all doing well.

Jessica DeKock (if you don't remember threw a rockin New Year's eve party).

Hey, how are things going at your house? Have you followed up on anything with tanner since he came over to my house? How are those books for him?
