I'm Pathetic!!!!

I've become a t.v. addicted Mommy!!!! Is there a support group for this?!?! Let me explain....I serously can't remember life without recorded tv? How did my parents do it!!! I've become addicted to my Direct Tv and the ability to record multiple shows at the same time all day everyday. I am then able to watch them at my beck and call. My poor kids have been affected by this syndrome and the second they wake up they ask for Dora...Diego or Super Why. I am able to turn it on instantly....well, that is until yesterday. We decided to suspend our Direct Tv for a few months. We did this for two reasons, one....we're moving soon and two, it's EXPENSIVE! We survived yesterday with few tears (mom's included) and the tv was on not at all....basic channels are not as good as noggin and even the ice antenna Davis bought, doesn't get good reception...also, I couldn't figure out how to get to the regular tv. LOL
I have also realized that my tv babysitting technique is no longer going to work, so I need to *gulp* spend more time with my kids. For those that know me, this is a difficult thing for me. I HATED babysitting growing up (probably because there was no recorded tv) and I love my kids, but have no idea what to do with them all day. So any suggestion would be LOVELY. Also, how do you get anything done?!?! YIKES, this will be a new adventure for all of us. Wish us luck!!!! LOL

Randomness.....our house is nearly completed (I will try to go take pictures soon.) We also were able to find someone to lease our house for TWO YEARS!!! This is so awesome. We hope after those two years, the market will look better and we can sell it, making enough money to finish our basement and put a yard in. Until then our kids will make mudpies in the yard.
Davis and I are also leaving to go on a cruise this Sunday. We will be gone a whole week and the kids will be staying with the grandmas. We are THRILLED about this and apologize that the tv was turned off just before we leave, thus no tv babysitting for grandma either.

Well, that looks like it for this week. Don't plan on hearing much from me for a week or so, I willt ake pictures and post as soon as I can. I might get pictures up of the house before leaving, but don't hold your breath!

It's so funny that you should ask for advice on the subject of entertaining your kids, because until about a month ago, I worked full time from home, so my kids watched LOTS of TV while I was on the computer. I've been so excited that now I can spend more time playing with them, but I ran into the same dilema as you - what do I do with them ALL DAY?!?! Then, I found this GREAT book at the library! It's called "Unplugged Play", and it has a ton of ideas for entertaining children from 6 months-10 years old (without using anything that takes batteries or needs to be plugged in)! I would highly recommend it!
I'm excited (and jealous!) that you guys get to go on a cruise all alone!!!!

My kids love forts and will spend hours in them. For the little ones...put long pieces of masking tape on the floor (I do it on the carpet) in zig-zags or curves or whatever. They love practicing walking on them, jumping over them, whatever. Good luck! (And good luck for the Grandma watching them soon!)

Oh I thought you were just punishing me while you relax in the sun... They have done well so far, of course this is only Tuesday. haha... We watched a movie tonight, "Dora and the mermaids"... I think. Fun
And you put toys away too.
MAN... you must really want me to struggle... Not
We have had fun. Day care has helped. Just think.. home at 5 dinner, bath, movie, bed... hurrah. Then I have time to do dishes, check my emails, can't watch any of my shows, no t.v. haha so it's bath and bed for me too... might cure my insomnia... haha
I love these babies. This has had it's challenges, but over all it's been fun.
